Fed up with the political gridlock, Americans long for new faces, new voices and new ideas in Washington. Yet, as the 2016 presidential campaign shapes up, voters are seeing the same old last names. That's because right now, an independent can't be elected president - even though three out of five Americans say they would like to vote for one next year, and more Americans than ever identify themselves as independents.
The current system is rigged against these independent voices. This can - and MUST - change. But the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) needs to take action for that to happen.
The CPD needs to open up the presidential debates to include a third, independent candidate. Doing so would give the American people a broader choice in their selection of our President and enable more great Americans to run. It's a win-win!
